Dolgellau has a rich history as a market town, dating back to the 13th century. The town's market tradition continues today with local markets and an array of independent shops.

Dolgellau's High Street, known as Eldon Square, is a delightful stretch lined with charming shops, cafes, and historical buildings. This is where you will find the local shops some of our personal favourites:

Celf Aran Arts - Showcasing Local Handmade Crafts. This cooperative craft shop features an array of locally crafted items, including woodwork, ceramics, jewelry, and paintings. It's the ideal place to find one-of-a-kind gifts and souvenirs that truly capture the essence of Wales. I am a regular in here and you will spot some of the local art works in Glasfryn in the shop! I really like Bryn Glas Ceramics, Celtic Treasure necklaces and enjoy honey daily from Trees and Bees. They have a rotation of monthly makers so there is always some variety and new products for sales.
There is also another clothes shop with no website next door called A present from India - selling Indian fashion, I have a lovely summer dressing gown from there.

Cader Idris Outdoor Gear - for outdoor enthusiasts in need of hiking gear or walking books. Established in the 1990s, this shop great local shop offers a range of outdoor equipment, ensuring you have everything you need for your hiking adventures or refreshing your gear.

Charity Shops - explore Dolgellau's charity shops, where you can find unique items and support a good cause. British Red Cross and St. Davids Hospice Shop are great options for hunting down holiday games, puzzles, and more, keeping the children entertained.

Coco - Fashion and Local Gifts a boutique that combines fashionable clothing with a selection of souvenirs and gifts reflecting the spirit of Wales. They proudly stock Coed Eryri Creations, my favourite local products (woodwork and resin), perfect example of local Welsh craftsmanship.

Medi Gifts - Homeware and Welsh Design Medi Gifts is a treasure trove for homeware enthusiasts. Run by the former presenter of the BBC makeover program 'Real Rooms,' this shop offers a curated selection of stylish items for your home.
